Get Started – Send in your Stories

Tell us about your journey to Australia and your life in the early days as a migrant in the Illawarra.

Share your memories of those days, good and bad, living, working or going to school in our region and please provide a photograph (old or new).

All your stories will be collected and archived on this website by the Migration Heritage Project so that future generations will learn about the history of migration in Wollongong that cannot be learned from history books.  They will be made available on the MHP website (with your permission) and hopefully one day will feature in the Museum of Human Migration to the Illawarra or maybe one day published in a book, as well as be placed in Wollongong’s Local Studies Library.

A specially prepared questionnaire template has been prepared to help you write your story.

You can use this questionnaire by downloading it via the link Download Template in pdf format and save it to your computer.

If you would prefer the word version please email your request to .

Once completed you can attach your story to the form below, send your story in via email or mail to:

Alternatively, you can use the online form at the bottom of this page.

Please include your contact details so that we may arrange to have your permission to use your story, together with a copy or scanned image of your photographs.

If you have a story to share, we would love to hear it.

Please fill out the form below and upload your story along with any images that we can publish on our website.
