To define, record, protect and promote migrant heritage in the Illawarra

The Migration Heritage Project is a community initiative that advocates to protect, promote and celebrate the diverse heritage of Illawarra’s community.

We do this by collaborating with a wide range of cultural and heritage groups, raising the importance of protecting our heritage with Local and State government and providing resources for groups and individuals to record and celebrate their heritage.

Our group

The MHP is a group of volunteers who are passionate about showcasing the valuable and lasting contributions that migrants have made to the Illawarra.  The MHP is not affiliated with any government or business interests and has strong support from the wider community. Committee members come from a variety of backgrounds and have experience working in community services and clubs, local and state government, TAFE, University and other educational sectors. Membership to MHP is open to all and you do not need to be a committee member to be involved in our work.
