
‘Wollongong’s Old Roman Catholic Burial Ground Revisited‘ is a book by Wendy E. Nunan that covers the stories of approximately 400 people, their spouses and families that are buried in the original Catholic Burial Ground in Wollongong, In her research Wendy found two non-British early pioneers.

They were: John Lewith and Jean Lavergne who was also known as John Lavarne. Unfortunately there is little detail available on John Lewith but the second person, Jean Lavergne and his family is quite detailed. Jean’s name was interpreted and spelt in a variation of ways.
